The Endless Night

Lying here staring at the four blank walls
Drowning in the silence

Breathing in one sharp breath
Praying for redemption

Holding back tears that want nothing more than to fall
The broken sobs, breaking through
Needing the release

The sharp intake of breath
Praying for control

Fighting off the urge to scream into the night
Wanting, for one moment, a small ray of light

Unable to hold it back
You scream and scream and scream

As the last echo of screaming drifts
The light breaks though for a brand new day
To do it all again

The endless cycle that has become
A living nightmare, it seems

The smiling face everyone sees
Is just a painted expression it weaves

For as night draws near
You know you are bound
To relive the silence again
